Intro

Life is a little bit...ok, a lot...crazy!  In this blog, you will find the odds and ends of our lives through my eyes. A little about us...

My husband, Jared, is a senior account representative for a global company. He is basically a weekend visitor in our home. Jared is full of life and over the top in every way possible. Our home is much too quiet and a little boring when he is away!!! 

I am a stay-at-home mom, a position that feels quite antiquated in today's society. I tend to volunteer way too much at the cost of my family. I am working on that!  This year is all about them!  I love good books, cooking, sewing, crafting, and photography!


Jake, the awkward teenager, is a sophomore in high school. He is just a great kid, a little lazy, but a great kid nonetheless!  He is a Life Scout working toward his Eagle!   He loves cars. Jake knows everything about them. The rest of us can't keep up. He always has a joke and kind word for everyone. 


The violin girl, Macy, is in her last year of elementary school. She is the Student Council President of her school, plays the violin, loves to tap dance, and spend time with friends. Macy is an old soul. She brims with confidence and is willing to try just about anything. 


Molly Mae Bigglesworth II is our newest addition. She is a 13 week old old English sheepdog. She loves balls and bones. She likes to cuddle!  Molly is obedient but doesn't always like doing it.

Blogging Through the New Testament

For the many years now, most of the Bible studies I have done have been in the Old Testament.  Other then knowing the basic stories that you learn in Sunday school and VBS, I had never read much of the OT.  I was eager and jumped right in to it.  Who knew that there was a talking donkey or a king that was killed while having his morning constitution???  Ok, I am sure some of you did, but my Sunday school education came up short in the OT.  It was an exciting journey to go on, and on, and on.  I say this not out of boredom but because I had done like 3 or 4 back to back to back to back OT studies some of which lasted a year or more (there were some shorter studies of NT mixed in along the way).  That is a long time to spend with the stiff necked Israelites.  It is a long time to be beat up by the law.  Not saying it isn't needed, but it's a long time to focus on the OT with only a little NT. Hope of a New Year

Aren't the beginnings of new years great?  It is like restarting your computer or iPhone - all of the information is still there but refreshed, and we are full of hope as we begin working that things will run more smoothly. We make resolutions based on this notion. On January 1, we feel like we can conquer the world. We are full of hope. Somewhere around February or March, we lose our hope. We toast our New Year and celebrate it's arrival! This past year, 2016, was a terrible year for my family. Nothing particularly bad happened. It was just little things, but they were unrelenting. For the first time ever, I questioned my faith, questioned whether or not I was worthy of God's love. My husband was in the same boat. After months of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, we decided to change churches. It was amazing!  We have a pastor who preaches about no matter how broken we are or how much despair we are in, we are always worthy of God's love (he preaches

In September 2018, we were getting ready for dinner when Jake emerged from the basement to say he was going to Wal-Mart for batteries.  Jared was taking care of dinner so I would ride along with him.  It was a short trip to town and back.  We returned to Jared sniffling in the kitchen and Macy bawling at the kitchen counter.  What could have possibly happened in the last 30 minutes???  Apparently, a lot!  We had a friend who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  It had been in remission but had come back.  Jared asked her husband if they had gotten to do the things they had wanted to do in life (bucket list items).  He said no that they had planned to travel and do those things when they retired.  When Jared was done with the phone call, he got online and ordered tickets to the Royal Ballet's Nutcracker performance at the Royal Opera House in London on New Year's Day and made hotel reservations.  So why all of the tears?  It had been my dream to go to London since I can rem
