Blogging Through the New Testament

For the many years now, most of the Bible studies I have done have been in the Old Testament.  Other then knowing the basic stories that you learn in Sunday school and VBS, I had never read much of the OT.  I was eager and jumped right in to it.  Who knew that there was a talking donkey or a king that was killed while having his morning constitution???  Ok, I am sure some of you did, but my Sunday school education came up short in the OT.  It was an exciting journey to go on, and on, and on.  I say this not out of boredom but because I had done like 3 or 4 back to back to back to back OT studies some of which lasted a year or more (there were some shorter studies of NT mixed in along the way).  That is a long time to spend with the stiff necked Israelites.  It is a long time to be beat up by the law.  Not saying it isn't needed, but it's a long time to focus on the OT with only a little NT. I am in no way claiming to be a theologian.  I am just sharing my journey in the NT as I

Ode to Fall

Oh how I love fall!  I love everything about!  The cool temps!  The clothes!  The food - soups!  The colors and scenery!  Halloween!  Thanksgiving.  I love everything about it!!!  I want to dive into a pumpkin latte and live there!  One of our favorite movies is "You've Got Mail".  The Tom Hanks character emails the Meg Ryan character that he would give her a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils if he knew who she was.  My heart gets giddy every time I hear it!!!  Doesn't fall really start with the purchase of school supplies???  And then there is college football (hopefully)!!!  I can't stand it! Next week, we are looking at these temps! I can't wait!!! The cool temps!!!  I am a fluffy girl.  We are on a fluffy family.  We hate hot weather.  We lived in an area for 6 years that had extremely hot summers and the falls weren't much better.  Fifteen months ago, we moved to a new state that has the most gorgeous weather.  We just extended the patio so that we

23 Years

Our wedding day 23 years ago. Not long ago, 23 years of marriage would not have seemed like a major accomplishment, but in today's society, it seems unattainable to most!  We reached that this year.  People seem surprised when we tell them how long we have been married.  The millennials and generation Zs always want to know the secret to the longevity of our marriage (it doesn't feel like a long time to either one of us).  This blog post is about what has kept us together for 23 years!  It is in know way a judgement of other marriages.  I am only referring to what has worked for us. Put Christ at the center of your relationship. First, God has ALWAYS come first!  We are christians first and husband and wife second.  All faith journeys have their ups and downs, but with a partner to navigate it with, it makes the whole thing a whole lot easier.  I see my husband grow in his faith in much different ways than I grow in mine.  We compliment each other so well.  We have more to offe

London

In September 2018, we were getting ready for dinner when Jake emerged from the basement to say he was going to Wal-Mart for batteries.  Jared was taking care of dinner so I would ride along with him.  It was a short trip to town and back.  We returned to Jared sniffling in the kitchen and Macy bawling at the kitchen counter.  What could have possibly happened in the last 30 minutes???  Apparently, a lot!  We had a friend who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  It had been in remission but had come back.  Jared asked her husband if they had gotten to do the things they had wanted to do in life (bucket list items).  He said no that they had planned to travel and do those things when they retired.  When Jared was done with the phone call, he got online and ordered tickets to the Royal Ballet's Nutcracker performance at the Royal Opera House in London on New Year's Day and made hotel reservations.  So why all of the tears?  It had been my dream to go to London since I can rem
